25 Year Anniversary Print Exchange
—Call for Entries—
To help us celebrate our 25th Year Anniversary, Hand Print Press is excited to announce their first ever Print Exchange open to all printmakers worldwide (students, novice, amateurs and stabled printmakers are welcome). The subject matter is artist’s choice.
How it works
Each participating printmaker creates and submits a limited edition of twelve (12) prints specifically for the exchange. These prints are created using a recognized fine art printmaking technique with archival materials. Of the twelve (12) prints submitted, Hand Print Press keeps two (2); the first print for the exhibition and archives; the second for sale to fund future projects.
The remaining prints are randomized and sorted, and each printmaker receives ten random prints in return from all printmakers all over the world.
HPP 25 Year Anniversary Print Exchange is open to ALL printmakers worldwide. A non–refundable fee is required upon registration.
Print submissions to HPP’s 25 Year Anniversary Print Exchange MUST comply with all the guidelines. Any edition that fails to meet one or more of the guidelines will, without exception, be returned at the printmaker’s expense with an explanation of disqualification. If at any time you have questions, please reach out to Hand Print Press via email [email protected]
Submission Fees & Registration
The fee to participate is $25. You must register and pay online below before shipping your prints to us. Once you register, we'll email you reminders about how and when to submit your edition. To register visit our website handprintpress.org
The information we collect from you when you register will be used only for the HPP’s 25 Year Anniversary Print Exchange.
All prints must be received by Monday, July 8, 2019 to be part of the exchange. Early submissions are always welcomed.
All work submitted must be created specifically for the HPP’s 25 Year Anniversary Print Exchange and, as a contributing artist, you must own the intellectual property rights for all images submitted.
All prints must be printed on recognized archivable paper: i.e Fabriano, Rives BFK, Japanese papers or papers made especially for this print.
Paper size MUST be 4 inches by 6 inches.
All submissions must be created using a recognized fine art printmaking process: Etching, Lithography, Mezzotint, Dry Point, Linocut, Woodcut, Collagraphy, and Screenprint.
No monotypes or monoprints, glicée prints, digital prints, reproductions, photographs, glitter or 3-D elements in or on the print. Note: Inclusion of digital/photographic work as part of the image creation process is welcomed (eg: photographic etching, pronto plates, polymer plates), provided that the final physical print is not produced using a digital print method.
All twelve (12) prints must be signed and editioned, you must include edition number, title and artist’s signature. Please use PENCIL only when signing your prints.
All prints must be completely DRY before submission. Each print must be individually protected. We strongly suggest placing a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of paper, newsprint or glassine in between each print. Also make sure your packaging is sturdy enough to sustain damage while in transit.
Your submission prints must be packaged in a single shipment. Enclose a copy of your confirmation letter, a prepaid postage self addressed envelope large enough for the prints and ship package to:
UMKC Hand Print Press
It is the artist’s responsibility to pay for shipping expenses to and from HPP. Please make sure your package is sturdy enough to protect the prints from being damaged during transit.
The prepaid postage self addressed envelope will be used to send the prints back to you the artist. We will be responsible for making sure the exchanged prints are packaged to sustain damage while in transit. Please use a tool like USPS.com or comparable tool to calculate proper shipping, ordering supplies or buying the postage.
